Information & Rates

In-Person Instruction: I am now taking on private (vaccinated) students at select (public) darkroom locations in New York, and offer instruction in both traditional, as well as experimental, silver gelatin printing. (I will soon be teaching some other alternative process techniques as well, please stay tuned or reach out if you have a specific process you wish to learn.)

Online Instruction (Zooms): Zooms are open to all students; All time zones and all levels are welcome. While I am happy to teach any area of black and white photography and/or printing online, the photograms and other diy darkroom processes translate the best (and there are options for film photographers who want to try something a bit different). However, other topics/processes can be taught remotely (I just have to be a bit more creative to translate properly to those new to the darkroom).

• It may be of interest for you to note that I specialize in true infrared film, experimental photograms, equivalent images, and art therapy/stress relief 

•  I also teach a wide array of topics outside of the darkroom - including putting together a cohesive body of work (all mediums welcome), artist statement help, and and will soon be offering some options for poets and writers, as well as for photographers who wish to learn to use text in the context of their prints.

RATES

Hourly Rate: $70/hr (3 hour minimum)

• Discounts will be considered for those who genuinely want to learn, but who may not be able to afford my standard rates.

• ONLINE ONLY - BRING A FRIEND DISCOUNT - if you both sign up for 6-12 weeks (or more) of semi-private Zoom courses, you'll both save and be able to learn from each other, as well as from me. Rates start as low as $800/person for 6 weekly sessions (Save even more if you bring 2 friends!)

• IN-PERSON - 6-12 CONSECUTIVE WEEKS OF PRIVATE INSTRUCTION (3 hours/session; can be done weekly or bi-weekly). Rates start as low as $1,000 for 6 weekly sessions.
