APRIL 2024 - THREE ZOOM CLASSES + SPECIAL OPTIONS FOR PRIVATE/SEMI-PRIVATE STUDENTS (LAST CALL, MOVING IN MAY)

Since I’m moving in mid-May, and unable to give you much notice on my final teaching sessions/classes in my current home darkroom, I am offering these April classes in the form of open sessions and happy to design private instruction around your printing/learning goals. (No minimum number of students to run and you have a couple different options for duration).

I'm offering online instruction/classes in the following formats (and do have a new class that is also open to digital photographers): DIY Darkroom, Lecture and Demo/Critique style Classes, and/or Private or Semi-private Instruction. (See below photo).

Sun print/process shot (lumen, although technically this unique black-and-white photograph is also a chemigram) -  made with black-and-white photo paper, the Windansea Beach materials and more; exposed with a flat panel led light. (I was testing/creating a messy verision of lumens with a led panel I was gifted with, since I haven't had enough down time to expose them in proper sunlight); This process does not require darkroom chemistry and is fun for students of all ages. Teens welcome with parent/guardian's written permission (please reach out for more info if you have a teen who would like to learn this process).

• PRIVATE STUDENTS

Private students have a wide range of topics available. Two session minimum. Please email me for more information and/or to schedule your free zoom consultation. (Materials and DIY darkroom lists will be provided in advance of our sessions). 

      NEW: Dual Instructor Options

6-8 session option for private students – includes a surprise guest instructor or two of my choosing (bi or tri-weekly within the first 3 weeks of April, I’ll schedule the specific dates and times with you). Two hours/session. Various processes/topics applicable.  

• THREE NEW ZOOM CLASSES (with flexible durations)

Intro to Experimental Photography (Ages 16 and Up; Younger students considered on a case-by-case basis). No darkroom is needed, is easy to DIY inexpensively with my guidance.

This course will introduce students to analog photographic processes that they can do from the comfort of their homes (or outside). They will learn to make photograms (unique cameraless darkroom prints), lumens, and potentially liquid emulsions for those who opt for the 6-session option, which includes a session with a special guest instructor. (A materials and DIY darkroom list will be provided.) 

Format Options: DIY Darkroom (or Lecture & Demo Style for those who prefer not to set up makeshift darkrooms)

Dates: Monday and Wednesday nights – April 8-24, from 6:30-8:30pm EST

"Within Reach"- Winds of Change (series)

 Unique silver gelatin print (photogram) - no camera or darkroom is needed to make photograms, is easy to DIY inexpensively with my guidance. Made with sand, ice, flowers, and more. Exposed via handheld led light. Art as Therapy – DIY Darkroom or Sun Prints version (with a focus on materials and healing). Digital photographers are also invited to join this class if they’d like to plan on making their prints between our sessions and sending me jpgs in advance.

Participants will learn to use alternative photographic processes as a way of healing, as they learn to make beautiful handmade photographs. Digital photographers are also welcomed to take the class (at a reduced rate) and learn how to use their digital cameras as tools for releasing stress, anxiety, and more, as well as learning to make more emotive photographs/artwork. (A materials and DIY darkroom list will be provided.)

Dates: Tuesday & Thursday evenings–  starting as soon as April 4 (last session on April 23^rd), from 6:30-8:30 EST

"Multiple Fractures" - The Many Rings of Saturn (series)

Unique silver gelatin print (mixed process photogram), made with ice, sand, flowers, and glitter (originated as a demo print for a private student in 2022).

The Emotive Cameraless Print (aka Intro to Equivalent Images) – DIY Darkroom version (with a focus on materials and healing).

This course will guide participants towards making strong, expressive photograms that translate beyond the realm of traditional (or “straight”) photography. It is open to both cameraless photographers, as well as those who wish to work with negatives/lens-based work in some capacity. No experience required.

Format Options: DIY Darkroom photograms (photograms or alternative process contact prints) 

Dates: Choose Saturdays or Sundays (or both) - April 6-21, from 2:30-4:30pm EST either day or Sunday evenings from 6:45-845pm EST
