Course Description

The definition of photography essentially translates to drawing with light. This class will introduce participants to a variety of methods for making light drawings that are beautiful, unique, and healing, as well as made without the use of a camera.

• A lumen print is a one-of-a-kind handmade print, which is made by placing materials directly on top of a photographic surface, exposing it to light, and rinsing it off with water. No chemistry is required and there are a lot of choices for materials, which is why it's the perfect medium for the Zoom photography/wellness class.

Participants will learn to make coloful cameraless photographs by hand - in the sun. Working with materials that can readily be found in their homes or in nature (or purchased inexpensively), they will also learn to let go of the idea of what a photograph is "supposed to" look like or how one is made, as they learn to make unique photographic works of art, that are not only expressive but also healing.

As the class continues, they will learn to look at their prints for what they are as well as what else they can be, and will be guided towards learning to use their materials and/or employing additonal materials/colors/textures, in ways that particular to the type of healing they wish to address, as well as the expression they wish to convey. Further, the physicality of some of the processes, will serve as an enhanced form of art as healing. 

• Those who are receptive, may also find joy in the freedom of the processes, as well as via the resulting beautiful prints they will make.    

A small materials list will be provided upon registration. No experience is necessary but kindness towards others IS required (all of my classes are safe spaces).
