Images & Words (June-July 2026) - a Community Class...
Monday, March 9, 2026 at 5:31PM Images and Words - Sun Prints (and/or other 2D mediums) & text
This is a community class welcoming all 2-d artists and poets, together (the primary version will focus on photographic methods and words, participants who work in other mediums will attend shorter sessions of the same class. Poets are also welcome to take the lumens and words version, if they wish)
- Monday evenings, 6:30-9pm EST (online) - choose which version of the class you prefer, June-July 2026; dates are pending as of right now, register early for first dibs on your preferred start date or email me to request an alternative time slot if you wish.

Work in progress lumen with alphabet letters (still needs to cook awhile, I use a UV light box instead of the sun)

Participants of this class can choose whether to focus on making lumens (or other 2D artwork) that incorporate(s) words directly in their images and/or artwork that is paired with words in another capacity, as a whole.
- Those who prefer to collaborate with a friend (perhaps a poet?) can save $200 if they register as a pair. They will be introduced to different methods of working with both words and images directly in their lumen prints, as well as via words that they write separately and pair with the images when both are complete.
Those who work in other 2-d mediums will be eligible for a small discount if they request the all mediums version (it will be added to the registration link in the coming days). For reference, I'm sharing an image and poem pairing by Omar Columbus (below), who is both an artist and a veteran, as well as an accomplished poet (who will be a special guest during one of our sessions).

A Camouflaged Heart by Omar Columbus
A Camouflauged Heart (original poem) by Omar Columbus
War makes humans human.
Conflict is universal.
From the beginning
there was war.
Before I was born
and lifetimes afar.
Battles rage
As mankind ages
yet never learns
from past mistakes.
Or stories from those
who live to tell,
of what war remains
a living hell.
I had never been more present
then at that very moment.
Standing in a desert land
hearing a foreign language
I could not understand.
Camouflage dressed
so that I could blend in.
Desensitized to suffering and pain
only a camouflaged heart remains.
